Children’s Fellowship Highlights by Danielle Davis, Children’s Fellowship Coordinator
“On May 1st we had a Children's fellowship at our home, and what a privilege! It was such a blessing to be with all the young believers as well as our wonderful helpers. Our theme verse for the day was Psalm 119:11 "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." First we had a teaching where we looked at how to hide God's Word in our hearts and why it is so important, no matter your age. We were reminded that God's Words are not man's words, but are to be treasured and are more valuable than gold or silver. We also saw that memorizing verses helps us to have God's Word readily available to us, so we can change our thoughts to think God's Word. We looked at Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." We saw that God's Word was profitable and directs our steps. We saw that it is important to learn and know God's Word so we can follow God's instruction.
After fellowship, the children decorated boxes and put some verses inside to take home with them. They did a scavenger hunt where they searched for rocks which had verses painted on them, then we read those verses together. We also did a "Game show" where the children worked together to chose which verses went with which situations. They enjoyed another activity where they filled in the blanks to complete the verses and as they did, were able to add pieces to their heart puzzle. We had a delicious lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, as well as homemade salsa, chips and oranges. Kyle and Lylly helped by making a few items for our lunch which we all got to enjoy. It was such a joy to be together again.”
